The Sesame Place Crisis 2022

Starting with the premise that crises are a fact-of-life for organizations of all types and sizes, for this course we examined the causes and impacts of crises and the key role communication plays in crisis management. Through review of key principles and examination of real-life cases, we gained insights into four key stages of crisis communication – prevention, preparation, response, and image restoration. We discussed and developed a detailed report for 2 real organizational crisis situations. One was a class activity with individual tasks for the Sesame Place Crisis of 2022 and its prodromes around disriminatory practices of ignoring 2 little black girls. The second was to create and present any other individual case study of your choice for which I chose to build on Burger King's Women's Day tweet in 2021 that "Women Belong in the Kitchen". Both case studies involved finding the sources, the event and the theories used to cover the damage by the companies and thereby suggesting alternative solutions if it could have been been handled in a better way.
